Key West for Thanksgiving

It was a cold Thanksgiving, so rather than a road trip to Ann Arbor as planned, we ended up driving the other way, down to Key West for some sand and warmer weather.

It took us two days to drive there, but was totally worth it.  On the second day, we stopped at Cocoa Beach for a lunch break and a bit of beach time.  Then on to the Keys we drove.

Key West was way more than we expected.  We saw a manatee swimming in the water--but Sophie wasn't too impressed.

We found a condo with three swimming pools. Lovely

second tooth lost

Today Sophie surprised us when we picked her up from school with a second tooth missing. The tooth fairy was surprised, she didn't think she'd be working tonight.  Here's ST missing her first tooth.

Pigeon Forge

We went to Pigeon Forge for the weekend.  It's pretty hideous. Every third building is go karting, every fourth, mini golf.  As Sophie saw it, it was fantastic: "awesome everywhere" were her exact words.

first tooth out

Sophie's first tooth came out while we were in Williamsburg. The Tooth fairy diligently did her work once we made it back home.

The next tooth is coming out soon, it's wiggly.

We'll try to get pictures.

"Dude, you're kidding, you're already married."

Sophie's response to Mike telling me a colleague loved him.  He was basically saying how a colleague liked to work with him because Mike made things easy for that person.

Sophie decides to cut her own hair

Over the weekend Sophie cut her own hair.  She hid the evidence pretty well, except she left the scissors out.  I didn't think anything of it until I noticed a chunk of her bangs missing.  Although she hacked them off pretty well, the missing chunk isn't that noticeable and a good lesson was learned by all.

ready for school

As everybody who reads this probably knows, Sophie starts kindergarten this year.  She's excited and we're thrilled.  Her dad got her some flowers to start her year off right.
