Today we went to the local museum for a tour. As Sophie and I walked around the museum, I remembered when we were walking around one of the Smithsonian Museums in DC when she couldn't really walk. She seemed overwhelmed more than anything.
Now she holds my hand as we walk around or runs from me with the mistaken belief that we are playing chase. She would notice things in paintings and say things like "dog" and "ball" No tantrums, only giggles. We even hung out for about twenty minutes playing in a nook she found to explore. She's not quite at the point where a trip to the museum is something she craves, but we're getting there.
Now a children's museum is a different thing altogether. We have a local hands-on museum that we go to frequently. It's crazy now because even if we drive by the back of it, Sophie gets all excited and starts pointing. Will the day ever come that she gets that excited to see the art museum?
